About Everything Flows (Τα Πάντα Ρει)
In Ancient Greek philosophy, it is said that all forms of life are in constant movement, forever changing, except for consciousness, which is also referred to as the SELF, and is said to be unchanging. To understand this, one can think of a river, which remains the same while the water that flows within it continuously changes. In the words of Heraclitus “everything flows, nothing stands still” and for this reason, “one cannot step into the same river twice,’’ as everything, but consciousness, is in a constant state of flux.
Quantum physics also shows us that matter is in constant movement and that the nature of matter is movement and change itself. In the same way, the philosophy of yoga regards change as a fundamental part of life. So, it is vital that we learn to live, manage and accommodate change in our lives. Learning to adapt to change is aligning ourselves with nature and the key to a balanced, harmonious and happy life.
“While we learn to adapt to change, we also learn to live our life not in the past, not by dreaming of the future, but in the present moment. Living in the present, we find the answer about who we really are”. Swami Sivamurti Saraswati
Swami Sivamurti Saraswati will explain how we can assimilate and welcome change in our life with positivity and creativity through the practice of yoga.
